Trojan Dynasty

West High Trojans finish the season with a 4-7 record, which is worst than last year’s 7-5 record. Trojans believe they can turn losing season to winning season. West High has solid class of junior, sophomore and seniors players in the year of 2015, that has potential.

 

Running back Yeshuwa Hicks ’16 said, “The guys from last year can teach some of the younger guys that are in new roles and I think that’s a big factor on this team.” Hicks has play a big role in Trojan Football. According to Iowa Maxprep Yeshuwa Hicks is rank 74 in the state of Iowa. Hicks can really be a role model to younger and new players to Trojan football.

                                                                                                                     

It is Garrett Hartwig’s second season as head football coach. Hartwig was defensive coordinator for six years at West until Brian Sauser resigned as head coach. Hartwig was named 4A district coach of the year by the Iowa Football Coaches Association last season after leading West High to the 4A quarterfinals for the first time since 2011. Also Tyler Meade became the new defensive coordinator in 2014. Yeshuwa Hicks said “Meade is another coach that is a great motivator and strategist at West and will help them in the future.

Wide receiver Jacquese Parks ’17 said, “This is really cool, playing with the seniors that have been through multiple varsity seasons, and I get a chance to play with them.” Parks is rank 76 in the state of Iowa for his progressive playing on the football field. According to Maxprep he plays an important role on the Trojan football team.

 

Devonte Lane ’17 is also a star wide receiver. Lane said “ he’s excited to play some players that he never play with in any sports”. Devonte is known for his contribution for 2014 West basketball title he finish the season with 9.2 PPG, 2.1 APG, 2.4 RPG, 2.1 SPG and 0.3 BPG. According to Maxprep Devonte is rank 65 in the state of Iowa. Lane is different from other players he play style changes the game of west high football.
