Pinterest Nail Hacks

Putting nail hacks to the test

May 19, 2016

YouTube videos and blog entries titled “Pinterest Life Hacks Tested” have been flooding the internet for a while now. From things as simple as spraying your bobby pins with hairspray to more crafty things like using straws for effortless, heatless curls, or extreme contouring and highlighting. I took it upon myself to test two cool nail hacks that I found while browsing through the infamous Pinterest beauty hacks. Here are my results:

Test #1 Water Marble Nails

I remember years ago when I was in seventh grade I tried to do water marble nails because I thought they were the coolest thing. Also my favorite YouTubers were making videos explaining how to do it. It seemed pretty simple:

Step 1: Fill a bowl with water

Step 2: Drop by drop, add nail polish of your choice

Step 3: Create a design by dragging the nail polish with a toothpick

Step 4: Put your finger in in the water with your nail directly over the polish.

Four simple steps and I couldn’t seem to get it right. So this was my chance to redeem myself. Turns out I still cant do it.

Test #2 Stick On/Peel off Nails

This one was little more simple. Although it does take a bit of patience. You simply paint the shape of your nail(s) onto a sandwich bag and let it dry. Once it dries you should be able to peel it off of the bag and on to your nails. While it was super simple, so simple in fact you can’t mess it up.. I messed it up. I learned that if you aren’t patient enough to let your nails dry when you paint your nails normally, you may struggle with this as well. Needless to say, the nail “stickers” didn’t even make it to my nail before I messed them up. They were entirely damaged. (TIP: it takes longer than 3 minutes to completely dry; thank me later) I think I’ll try this one again soon.
