The ban on Snapchat at West resulted in both positive thoughts, and negative thoughts. As you guessed, the positive side of things have been the remarks from most of the teachers here at West high. As Mr. Butler. A science teacher at west says, “I see it both ways, I feel like if students were able to control themselves then their wouldn’t be a need for it, but I also see it as if students are engaged or working on stuff generally I don’t have any problems with it.” Then, I asked Butler if he thought the ban really has decreased the usage of snapchat by the students and this was his response, “I don’t think it has decreased all that much, I think students are willing to use their data and advocate it for snapchat when they need it.” That shows from a teacher’s point of view if the ban was overall that important to implement.

The students thoughts are a completely different story. As the social media app is “banned” from school the only thing protecting this phrase is the WiFi restrictions. Students still have their ways to avoid the ban using a sneaky app, and of course their data. Although many students have found a way to escape the ban do they still use the app as regularly as previous years? Lets see how this effected a junior, “It doesn’t really effect me because I don’t care about data. It just takes longer to load.”(Johnson 18)181505685SG00028_Apple_Begi

The ban on snapchat definitely brings some controversy to the hallways to West High, some people agree and some don’t. Lets see what one high schooler says, “No because now like the parents have to pay for more and it’s not their fault, it’s the schools fault. And parents should do something” (Bell 19)
