Next time you’re in class, look at the students around you, hopefully most will be paying attention, but you’ll probably see some people who are just trying to pass the time. Those people might be twirling their pencil, playing on their phones under the desks, or in senior Christopher Nora’s case–drawing.

When Nora was eight years old, he saw his mom drawing and became fascinated with drawing then. Nora’s mother then proceeded to teach Nora how to draw.

“When I was 10, I started drawing cars and stuff, and I’ve been drawing ever since then, and I just got better over time,” Nora said. Nora says that he believes his best drawing so far is the “Little Kid” drawing that he did.
Nora stated that he currently has about five or six good drawings, others he has thrown away because he believes he could do better. “I’m just gonna keep on going until I get better and better,” he said.

Nora also stated that he has never joined any art clubs, but he did join one art class. “I only had one art class and that was in the 10th grade, basically they just taught us to shade and stuff, but I really already knew how to do that; I was the best one in my class,” said Nora. Nora said that he has never tried selling any of his drawings or putting them in any art shows, but he would like to get to that point some day, but for now he plans on using it as a stress reliever, a hobby.

“When I’m mad, I try to draw to decrease stress,” Nora said. Nora says that once he gets out of school he would like to join the army for three years, going to school for mechanics while he is in the army. After that, he wants to go back to college for graphics and design.

Christopher’s best friend Drea believes he should become a tattoo artist. “He’s funny, he’s trustworthy, and he’s a
good student, really smart; I think his artwork is amazing, he should definitely do it professionally, I think he should be a tattoo artist to be honest, he should definitely sell his artwork too,” said Drea.

One of Christopher’s teachers, Monica Winterberg, also agrees that Christopher should go into it professionally, “If Christopher wants to pursue a career in art, I would encourage him to do so. Sometimes, though, people like to have a hobby that allows them to express themselves.” said one of his teachers. She also went on to say that Christopher is a genuine and sincere student and she encourages him to do what he sees best.
