Cosette, Cosi, Barry ‘22 has been dancing since she was 3 years old when she joined in order to follow her friends. It’s now her passion. Above, is the song for her solo this year.

Barry often dances ballet, jazz, contemporary, modern, and technician. But if she had to pick one, she’d tell you “…contemporary, because it’s really emotional. And I feel like if something isn’t going right in my day, then I can just dance. And it kind of just goes away.”

Though Barry does have days where she doesn’t want to go dance, she still does, “…  I feel like when you don’t want to, that’s kind of when you need to do it the most. Because you work harder when you’re tired and you use more muscles. And sometimes there’s definitely times when I don’t want to. And I can have homework and just tired, but I feel like I still have to because it’s a commitment I’ve made. And it’s important to me that I do it.”

Barry has a lot of commitment toward dancing, “Just because my parents have given a lot of money to help me have this, and just, I don’t know if I quit I feel like I lose something, because it’s really important to me. And I feel like I just let people down because I just waste the talent that I have.”

Despite the fact that Barry has cultivated and pursued dancing herself, she still feels the need to improve, stating “…I just don’t like to let people down. And I’m always trying to be happy and get other people happy. And just, just have like a good happy life. So I wouldn’t like it if people were upset with me.”

Barry’s friend, Quinn Koch, had this to say about Barry’s personality; “She’s… she always worries a lot; always ready to help you when you’re sad, but doesn’t just say ‘oh, I’m sorry’. She’ll, like, help you and like be humorous about it and not just feel bad for me, and then it picks me up when I’m down.”
