The Amazing World of Calligraphy

Most people see calligraphy as a dying art. Heidi Vogts ‘18 has been writing in calligraphy in her free time for almost a year.

Vogts was on Instagram and saw a short clip of calligraphy and decided it was really cool. She decided she wanted to try to do it too. Vogts went on YouTube and watched several videos pertaining to calligraphy.

At first, she borrowed a calligraphy pen from her counselor at camp. She got the hang of it pretty quickly. Then for Christmas, her parents got her a set of calligraphy pens.

When she’s bored in class, she writes things using calligraphy. Most of the time it’s put on something she hands in and her teachers question what she was doing. This always makes her laugh.

She likes to write in calligraphy whenever she gets a chance to, and she hopes that she gets better at it.
