Trump vs. West High School

Alex Pitz

This year, the presidential election brought many mixed emotions, varied beliefs, and assortments of thoughts. There is a lot of diversity and different opinions in America as well in West High School.

This years presidential election was also very different from any other presidential election and was hard to predict the outcome. In the days leading up to the election, Hillary Clinton had been in the lead, with Donald Trump right behind. As Trump was behind Hillary, this year’s election was one of the nastiest elections in American history.

Trump might have been behind Clinton in the days leading up to the election but that didn’t stop Cassidy Sundine 19’ from believing that Trump would become president. “I think that Trump is going to win without a doubt,” she said. However, Caecilia Shoppa 18’ believe that he would lose the election to Clinton, but it’s “not even the fact that he’s a bad person,” said Shoppa.

While other people’s views on Trump may never change, others might see that his actions may differ from his words. Sundine doesn’t think he really means what he says. While others can’t get passed what he has said and done in the past, others are more open minded and willing to let things play out before they judge.

Many people don’t like Trump because of his policies and his actions. “He not as bad as people, like, as we think he is, but, the stuff that he say, that comes out of his mouth is like, whoa, like why would you say something like that,” said Sir David Casten 19’. “He okay, but I don’t think he should be the president,” Casten said.

“A person that is really quick to discriminate a lot of people and doesn’t matter if he doesn’t know them or not,” said Maria Inarrito, 20’ as she expressed her overall views on Trump.  “He doesn’t take responsibility for his actions and doesn’t acknowledge that what he can say can hurt people.” Inarrito went on to say.
