Photography can really help you see the world in a new light. By taking a picture you can transform a seemingly insignificant object or moment into something beautiful that you may hold on to forever. Since I was younger I always believed that photography was very interesting and was quite an amazing skill to possess. I also knew that I did not have this skill and probably never would. I have always been comfortable with writing. Photography? Not so much. The reason I signed up for this class was to enhance my writing skills. I never thought that the photography unit would come to mean so much to me and help me learn so much about the world. This unit has forced me to attempt to take notice of the smaller things, like the memories that could be captured with the touch of a button. It also showed me that there is a sort of life and energy in everything that is just waiting to be captured. These photos are my attempt to get out of my writing shell, try to learn a new, valuable, skill, and see the world around me in a new perspective. I really think that the event photos I took show that each individual has their own story to tell and that you have to make yourself heard and be confident if you want change. This unit has really opened up my eyes to my surroundings and for that I am thankful. Yes, I repeat, I am not a photographer, but I do think that this unit was unique and helpful to life in general.
