Life Filled With Music

Coming from a family of music, it is no surprise that Maggie Huang ’21 took an interest in music. Huang has gone on to play piano and sing in choir for over 5 years.

Of all the things in life, freshman Maggie Huang’s passion has always been music. Huang was born into a family filled with music. Her dad is a vocal professor and her mom is a piano teacher, which led her to enjoy music. Huang’s mom, Min Xu, noticed Huang’s connection when she first started out. “Maggie always had a lot of musicality when she performs music, even when she just started,” Xu said.

Huang started taking piano lessons when she was 4 years old. Huang says that reason she has a connection with music is because she, “feels attached to it and has been doing music and listening to it mostly since she was born.”

Piano isn’t only the only music that Huang is into, she has also been in choir for about 5 years. Huang originally started as a soprano two but changed to an alto recently. After going to a rehearsal for All State Choir, Huang felt that the music seemed much higher than what she had previously sung in choir at the last school she was at, Northwest Junior High.

Huang has said that her goals as far as choir goes are to be in more music programs, such as opus and all-state choir, and to join musicals. Huang has also said that her goals for piano are to compete all kinds of competitions, learn to enjoy piano more, and just appreciate music in general.
