Not Everyone is Flawless
People may appear flawless, but are they really?
Ella Rosenthal ‘21 may be bubbly on the outside, but there’s more to her then her confident interior. Her biggest fear is failure.
“Part of me wants to blame it on society” Rosenthal Said, “Because if you get it wrong–You’re a failure”
“ What is something you find extremely wrong with the world today?”
“Moral Setup,” Rosenthal Continued.
“I feel like our morals as teenagers these days are really bad,
“like the things we want and need are not what they should be.”
But It isn’t all bad. Rosenthal explains that the world may be better today. “ I’d have to say understanding. I feel that people are more understanding now then they were back then” She answered, “Because, like my history teacher was talking about it yesterday. He said “If you asked George Washington what he thought about gay marriage he would ask what that was, so like, its not that they didn’t have an understanding about it. Its that they didn’t know what it was and how can you understand something if you don’t know what it is?”
Rosenthal happens to be involved with things like color and more.
“I’m in drama. I help with set. I’m also in Girl Scouts and I’m helping planning council events, I’m also in colors”“So what’s something that’s cool about being in colors?” She answered “They have really cool people and there’s snacks, Haha.”
“What made you want to join colors?”
She answered, “It’s actually a funny story, When I was in 7th grade a friend of mine told me I should join colors because a bunch of people just get together and talk about all of their problems, So I joined the next year and I just met a bunch of awesome people.”
“So, What’s your favorite song right now?” I asked.
“Woman, By Keisha.” She responded. “I like the fact that shes cursing and no one knows that I’m listening to this.”
“What’s your favorite movie right now?”
“Umm, I don’t really like movies that much. But my favorite movies right now has to be Ocean 8 and I Feel Pretty.”
“So what do you like about the movie, I feel pretty?”
“In the movie a plus size girl falls and injures her head, she wakes up thinking she’s the most beautiful girl in the world and basically she has a bunch of confidence which gets her things. I just think that the most Important part of the movie is the fact that she’s plus size and has a bunch of confidence.”
I proceed to ask “Why do you think confidence is something that is important to have?” She “Confidence is something that is important to have because it gives you better access to talk to and meet people.”
“If there was anywhere in the world you could be right now, where would it be and why?”
“Full girl scout camp.”
“Why?”
“Because it feels like home, It’s like a big family.” I then asked her about things that she would do to change the world if she could, and about the people she currently looks up to.
“This may sound weird, but a classmate. Haha. I don’t know, she’s just, she’s someone that makes everyone feel like someone.”
“What would you do if someone you knew was gonna commit suicide?”
“Um, I would give them emotional support and understanding.”
