2019 Red Carpet Wins and Flops
From the Oscars to the Grammy’s award season in Hollywood is full of prestige and riches. While some celebrities came to serve looks others failed to do so.

One of Hollywood’s Most luxurious seasons is award season; an opportunity for designers to show off their latest looks and custom designs while celebrities show off their personal style as well as their status. Award season is one of my favorite seasons because I get the opportunity to critique celebrities looks. Out of the hundreds of celebrities that were involved in the award season I chose six of the best and worst looks of the season.
Kiki Layne modeled a nude Dior dress at the Golden Globes this year and absolutely nailed the look. Her skin tone and the color of the dress contrasted beautifully. Usually when people use tulle it looks like a costume I would wear for dress up as a child but, with the mesh cage and the off the shoulder sleeve she stole the show. Her makeup was a little underwhelming with the dress being a neutral color she could have done so much with it and made it stand out. Her jewelry choices were amazing and stood out. Overall I would give her a 8.5/10 jewels for this look she could’ve done something more exciting but, what she did have looked great on her
Cardi B modeled a Manfred Thierry Mugler dress at the Grammys this year and looked like a pearl in an oyster… literally. Although this was a very unique dress she somehow was able to pull it off. If I saw anyone but Cardi B wearing this I would hate it but, she completely owned this look and made it her own. The gloves she put with the outfit looked like cleaning gloves so unless she is planning on bleaching something they need to go. Not only did she pull off the dress very well she also had one of the best makeup looks of the Grammys. It was just enough to compliment her outfit and face features. Her jewelry is too much; the pearls near her torso looked tacky and marble looking. Overall I would give this look a 7/10 oysters.
Billy Porter completely won the red carpet at the Golden Globes wearing custom couture by Randi Rahm. Most male celebrities at award shows show up in boring black suits but, Porter changed the game in this magical look. The silky pink of the inside his cape along with the gray floral outside made for an amazing contrast. Not only did he look great in this outfit he also looked like he was very much enjoying posing with the cape which makes the pictures natural and genuine. Like many, Porter has a downfall for his outfit and it would have to be his Gucci loafers with white tights; whoever decided to make him wear loafers with tights should never be allowed to style someone again I mean isn’t that one of the biggest no-nos of fashion. Overall I would give this look an 8/10 capes just because the loafers ruined what could’ve been a 10/10.
Emmy Rossum showed up to the Critics Choice Awards in a wine velvet dress by Ralph Lauren. As a huge fan of Shameless I can not hate on Rossum but, I was a little bored with this look I feel as though I have seen this outfit worn many times before. Although the dress was not killer neither was the hair it looked like she tried to make a single bun but, instead made two because she forgot to put some hair into the original bun. Even though the hair and dress were a bit of a flop her makeup and jewelry made up for it. Rossum’s makeup matched perfectly with her dress and enhanced her facial features very well. Her jewelry was simple and elegant and I really enjoyed the pieces just maybe not with this outfit. Overall I would give this look a 5/10 buns she looked amazing but, it was boring.
Melissa McCarthy and her husband, Ben Falcone ,modeled before an Oscars after party in an Adidas tracksuit. McCarthy still in full glam from the Oscars looked like she forgot to bring another outfit for the after party and I loved it. Do I need to say anything else 10/10 they look comfy.
Julia Roberts showed up to the Golden Globes in a custom Stella McCartney dress/suit. This look just looked off, the half skirt with the trousers was a mess and the dress color washed her out. They should have just gone with either the dress or the suit not both. The best part of this look was the hair it was simple and went well with the terrible dress suit. Her jewelry was ok but, nothing could look great in this outfit. I would give this look 3/10 dress/suits.
