Morgan Davis ‘23 is living up to her dream to be a fashion designer, and getting an early start on her future.

Morgan Davis ’23 sketches an outfits, based off of her living her best life.

The world of fashion is constantly changing, from tiny bags, to cut necklines, you’re never ahead. Morgan Davis ’23 wishes to join the world of fashion one day. She hopes to inspire people through her designs, and convey her emotions to the world.

Davis has always wanted to do something with fashion, from seeing it in movies to seeing it all around her. She knew for sure in elementary school.

“Design is a way to express myself,” Davis said. She wants to design to reveal her emotion through the outfit, and possibly someone else’s. Leaving a lasting legacy is something she strives to achieve.

She looks up to the brand Victoria’s Secret and Kim Kardashian. She’s a big fan of Kim’s Paris Swan dress. “It represents new beginnings,” Davis said.

If she could design for anyone, Davis said she would design for Nicki Minaj.

“Her outfits are outstanding,” Davis said. Davis likes the outfits Nick Minaj wears in her videos, and thinks that if she could design for her, it would be amazing. “I would be so grateful if that it happened…I would love to meet her…To see my outfit on the red carpet or a movie premiere or something, yeah, that’s pretty cool.” Davis replied.

Davis gets inspiration from her everyday life. One of her favorite designs, Keep the Game Catch the Ball, is inspired by her cousin, who plays baseball. She was sitting, wondering what to draw, and saw his pictures around the house, and inspiration struck her.

If the inspiration doesn’t come from her family or friends, it comes from outfits she wears. When asked if she could wear one of her designs, she said would wear her design, Hope, an outfit based off of her homecoming dress.

Davis talks about how she designs her outfits. She’ll write an inspiring quote, write the design, draw it, and a song that would go with it. Davis uses a sketchbook to design her outfits. She uses every page, whether for drawings, detail, or just some extra information, every page is used. She’s currently on her second book of designs. Davis prefers to design things more on the casual side of things. She likes it because it can be an everyday outfit, and not just a big event type of outfit.

Davis would like to design a wedding dress, make someone’s big day even more special with an amazing dress. Wedding dresses get recognized, and it’ll make her happy to see people gushing over the bride’s dress.

Davis wants to have her own fashion company to sell her own brand in. She would like to name it Legacy. Davis would expand from fashion, into handbags and other accessories.

Davis is already working towards her future, whether she’s thinking about what she wants to design or who it’s for. Her future will be big, and hard to achieve, but Davis has the inspiration she needs around her.
