Works in Progress

City Lights, 4th Ave, GoodTime Company, Showtime and Primetime performed on Wednesday, Nov. 2 in the West High auditorium at the Works in Progress show. This is show put on by West High show choirs where City and West High come together and show off what their show choirs have learned since they first started learning music and choreography.
The groups came together and were very supportive of each other according to Anna Forbes ’19.
“I think both [choirs] were very supportive of each other, like when there was a good solo or something, a lot of people from the show choirs clapped,” Forbes said.
Primetime is the newest addition to the West High show choirs. It is an all girls group directed Sarah Hass. When asked about the group Anna Forbes ’19, one of the Primetime girls said “This is a fun group to be apart of, it is a great opportunity to meet new people also it is cool to be apart of this group because it is the first and possibly the last year of Primetime.”
Primetime performed songs Brave and Me Too to begin the night.
Next, Showtime performed You Know My Name, Secret Agent Man and Back in Black. Showtime is directed by Jeff Knutson and is a boys and girls prep show choir.
Carrie Harper ’19 said “The team is always improving because there are new faces and new faces means new talent which is always a good thing.” Showtime hopes to keep improving throughout the season.
GoodTime Company performed a Michael Jackson medley of Don’t Care About Us and Who Is It, a medley of Zombie and God help the outcasts by Heidi Mollenhauer, a mashup of What Is Love, Be My Lover and Sweet Dreams, a medley of MMMbop and All The Small Things, a medley of Free Your Mind, Hit Me Baby One More Time and Vogue and their last medley was We’ve Got It Goin On and Larger Than Life. Goodtime Company is West’s girls and boys varsity show choir group directed by David Haas.
Kate Vanderleest ’17 said “This year GTC is one big happy family because of all the positive vibes.”
The group has been putting in a lot of work in and outside practice so far to make this show stand out.
