Top 3 Anime to watch in 2017

February 25, 2017

2016 was a great year for anime, with One Punch Man and Attack on Titan released– just to name a few; and because of that, 2017 is the year for you to continue watching those same anime on their second seasons. Follow my advice, and check out the top 3 anime to look out for in 2017:

3-   7 Deadly Sins

If you are an anime fan who enjoys watching great action scenes and seeing the main character face off against an entire nation, 7 Deadly Sins is not to be missed.

The story begins when Elizabeth, the princess of Liones, is trying to seek help from the 7 Deadly Sins, a group of “villains” who tried to overthrow the king. After a long search, Elizabeth meets with Meliodas who is the captain of the 7 Deadly Sins. Then, the two of them start a journey to find the other members of the group and fight against the powerful knights.

This anime’s main strength is its plot, which presents to the viewers each of the character’s backgrounds in depth, making the story more interesting since it is possible to comprehend their actions and have more affection to them. King, for example, has a mysterious love for Diane, another member of the group, but only through a flashback  it becomes possible to understand their early story together.

In conclusion, 7 Deadly Sins, being an action and fantasy anime, contains epic battles with magical powers and magical people (fairies and demons included).

However, due to its amount of blood, the anime might be uncomfortable for some viewers.

Facts:

Number of episodes: 24.
Season 2 release date: February 17.
Genre: Action, Adventure and Fantasy.
Can be watched at: Netflix

2- Attack on Titans

The suspense and action of Attack on Titan is a dream come true for all anime fans. In a post-apocalyptic world, where the human race is treated like animals and kept in captivity behind 50 meters walls that surround cities, giants are the hunters people protect themselves from. Eren Yeager, the main character, has a dream of exploring the undiscovered world and destroying every single titan that lives on the other side of the immense walls. In order to do that, he has to count on the help of his friends and become part of the Survey Corps, soldiers who risk their lives by leaving the comfort of the walls.

The story is really suspenseful due to the unbelievable odds that the characters are facing by fighting against titans. After watching a couple of episodes, the suspense won’t let you stop watching the next ones. Moreover, the action scenes and the perspective in the combat scenes is really amazing, since you can actually see the character’s view over the titans.

However, the anime has a lot of blood gushing out from the characters bodies as they die, and which is often unnecessary. In addition, the way that some of the titans kill humans are disturbing, another aspect that could have been avoided.

Facts:

Number of episodes: 25.
Season 2 release date: April 1.
Genre: Dark fantasy, Post-apocalyptic.
Can be watched at: Netflix

1- My Academia Hero

For those who enjoy watching action scenes and characters with supernatural powers, My Hero Academia is an option that should not be ignored. In this anime, the main character, Izuku Midoriya, lives in a world where 80 percent of the inhabitants have a Quirk (some kind of special power). Izuku, being a child that idolizes the heroes who fight against forces of evils, is desperate to join in. Unfortunately, he was part of the 20 percent that were destined to live an ordinary life.

As the story develops, he meets the greatest hero that has ever existed, All Might, and after that event, his life changes forever. Following similar dynamics as other animes, (Naruto, Dragon Ball, and Hunter x Hunter) on My Hero Academia, the main character faces many challenges to to be accepted in the best school of heroes .

Since this is a Shounen anime (audience aimed to young boys) , it certainly doesn’t lack detailed battles and incredible special effects. In addition, the well-developed plot turns average viewers into voracious people who are instigated by their curiosity to continue watching the next episodes. It is also important to emphasize that the high-quality animation with its vibrant colors, enhances the detailed settings, which contribute to the overall greatness of the anime.

Nonetheless, this anime might be considered a little childish for some people, since it does not present the more serious side of heroes, such as Netflix’s superheroes series, Daredevil, Luke Cage and Jessica Jones.

Facts:

Number of episodes: 13
Season 2 date of release: Sometime in April.
Genre: Superhero, Science fantasy, Action, Comedy-drama.
