Fall trends 2015
November 9, 2015
It’s that time of the year again, the days are shorter, the hot air turns cold, and the trees go bare. That can only mean one thing, it’s officially fall, and the coming of fall also means the coming of new and exciting trends in music, social media, fashion and more.
No season can go by without new and popular music. This fall has been filled with popular songs and music videos that can not go unheard. The recently released song “Hello” by Adele was her first song released since her song “Skyfall” in 2012.
“I love Adele’s new song and I think the message behind it is amazing,” said Amanda Parsons ‘18. The music video for this song has gotten over 200 million views within the first week of its release, and broke the download record of 1.11 million downloads in the first week of its release. Following her comeback to music she will be releasing her new album “25”, on Nov. 20. Justin Bieber’s new song, “Sorry” was released on Oct. 22 and hit the top of the charts shortly after its release.
“I love the song because it has a good rhythm,” said Maryam Musa ‘18. It is a song off of his new album “Purpose” scheduled to release on Nov. 13. The dance video to go along with this song has gotten over 61 million views in the first 12 days of its release.
Now that it’s colder outside people want to stay warm but still dress in style.
“I’ve been wearing a lot of vests because they’re cute and keep your core toasty,” said Ellen Burns ‘16. If you take a look at the people around you, your eyes will probably be flooded with darker colors, oversized sweaters, knitted scarves, fur boots, fuzzy socks, and jeans. Those are the big trends that come up every year during the chilly months.
One of the most popular apps this fall is called After School. It was released last October, but has gained local popularity just recently. This app allows you to communicate with other people in your school anonymously. The app is for high school students and allows you to connect with your school by verifying from your Facebook.
“It’s surprising that no one talks bad about other people on the app,” said Maryam Musa ‘18. There has been a lot of controversy over whether or not this app is safe. People think that since the app allows you to post anonymously about anyone that it can increase risk of cyberbullying and can be used for the wrong reasons.
One of biggest trends this fall was the new Snapchat update. It uses facial recognition to put filters over your face to add a scary or funny effect on your picture.
“The new snapchat filters are swag gucci ball,” said Garth Anderson ‘19. “The rainbow face is stupid, it’s not funny at all.”
While others disagree with him, “The rainbow one got me smiling,” said Mohamed Nour ‘17. For some people, the new Snapchat filter has become a lifestyle habit.
“I check the Snapchat filters when I wake up,” said Jackson Elkins ‘18. Most people like the Snapchat filter besides the lone outlier.
“I think they’re very cheesy and don’t use them very much,” said Nick Haddy ‘18.
