Abbie Callahan’s Photo Gallery

Abbie Callahan

When I walked into the Intro to Journalism classroom after break, panic struck. I could feel my stress level raising and my shoulders getting tense. We were assigned a photography project. I sat down and I wondered ‘How do you even “do” photography?’

I originally enrolled in Intro to Journalism to become a better writer and reporter, I didn’t expect to become interested in photography. Throughout the weeks of this project, I learned how to hold and use a camera. I learned how to take interesting photos and I learned that being a good photographer is a lot harder than it looks.

This project was also a lot of fun for me because I got to meet a ton of new people. I felt like having a camera strapped around my neck gave me an excuse to honestly, do whatever I wanted. It was ok to talk to new people and it was ok to go new places, which was really cool to experience.
